Who Am I Riddles and Brain Teasers
There is something about a good riddle that gets everyone in a room leaning forward at the same time. Someone reads it out, there is a pause, someone says oh wait I think I know, someone else says no no no that is not it, and then the answer lands and at least one person says I cannot believe I did not get that.
Who Am I riddles are some of the best for exactly this reason. The clues are just specific enough to point you somewhere, and just vague enough to send you completely the wrong way. They work for every age, every setting, and every group.
We have used them at family dinners, on road trips, at birthday parties, and in the car when the kids needed something to do for the next twenty minutes and the playlist had already cycled through twice.
This is the full list. Over 100 Who Am I riddles covering easy ones for young kids all the way through genuinely tricky brain teasers for adults, plus animals, food, nature, and a section of classic riddles that have been stumping people for generations. See how many you can get before checking the answers.
How to Play Who Am I Riddles
You do not need any supplies or setup. Just read the clue out loud and give everyone a chance to guess before revealing the answer.
A few ways to make it more fun depending on your group:
Points version: One point for every correct answer. First to ten wins. Works well for competitive groups and kids who love a bit of friendly rivalry.
Teams version: Split into two teams and take turns. The team with the most correct answers at the end wins. Great for larger groups and family gatherings.
Timer version: Give everyone thirty seconds per riddle. If nobody gets it in time, the answer is revealed and you move on. Keeps the energy up and stops any one riddle from going on too long.
Make your own version: After a few rounds, challenge everyone to write their own Who Am I riddle using something in the room. Reading them out is almost always funnier than the original game.

Tips for Hosting a Who Am I Riddle Game
Start with the easy section. Even if your group is mostly adults, starting with a couple of easy riddles warms everyone up and gets the momentum going before the harder ones land.
Use a timer for competitive rounds. Thirty seconds per riddle keeps the energy high and stops any one question from dragging on. If nobody gets it in time the answer is revealed and you move on.
Let people phone a friend. For the really tricky ones, allow one hint per round. It keeps people engaged rather than giving up on questions they genuinely cannot crack.
Try making your own. After a few rounds, challenge everyone to write one Who Am I riddle using something in the room. Reading them out is almost always the funniest part of the whole game and kids especially love being the one who stumps the adults.
Award points for style. If someone gets a riddle right but gives a really creative wrong answer first, consider giving them a bonus point. It keeps the energy fun rather than purely competitive.
