Church Games: Fun, Faith-Filled Ideas for Families, Youth, and Sunday School
Let’s be real, planning games for church events can be a lot. You want something fun, but also meaningful. Something that gets everyone laughing, but still ties back to faith. Whether you’re organizing a youth group night, Sunday school session, or a family gathering at church, you’re in the right place!
These church game ideas are all about connection with God, with each other, and with a good dose of giggles thrown in. From printable Bible games your whole family will love, to hands-on group activities that get everyone moving, we’ve rounded up some of our favorite ways to bring joy and faith together.

Faith Relay Race
If your church has an outdoor space or gym, this one’s a hit! Create a faith-themed relay race with small challenges at each station.
Some ideas:
-
Prayer station: say a short prayer of thanks
-
Bible verse station: recite a verse or find one in the Bible
-
Kindness station: write down one way to show kindness this week
It’s a fun way to blend physical activity with spiritual reflection and kids absolutely love the movement.
Build the Ark Challenge
Got some creative builders in your group? Split everyone into teams and challenge them to “build the ark” using craft supplies, LEGO bricks, or cardboard boxes.
You can give a time limit and see whose ark can “float” the longest in a tub of water, or just admire everyone’s creativity. It’s a fun way to teach teamwork, imagination, and the story of Noah all in one.
Fruit of the Spirit Trivia
Want to mix faith and fun with a little learning on the side? Our Fruit of the Spirit Trivia printable is a sweet choice for Sunday school or family devotion nights.
Each trivia question helps reinforce the nine fruits of the Spirit (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control), helping kids really understand what those qualities mean in everyday life.
Make it a team challenge, or use it as a quick activity before lesson time. Either way, everyone walks away with something new they’ve learned and that’s a win in our book.

Fruit of the Spirit Relay
This one’s perfect for little ones who have energy to spare!
Create a relay where kids carry fruit (real or plastic) from one end of the room to the other but here’s the catch: each piece of fruit represents one of the fruits of the Spirit. As they carry it, they have to say what that fruit means.
For example:
-
Apple: Love
-
Banana: Joy
-
Orange: Peace
It’s adorable, active, and helps them remember these powerful lessons in a way they won’t forget.
Sword Drill
Now this is a good old-fashioned favorite! A Sword Drill is a fun, fast-paced way to help kids learn how to navigate their Bibles.
Here’s how it works: everyone holds their Bible (their “sword”) closed. The leader calls out a verse for example, “John 3:16.” On “Go!” everyone races to find it, and the first one to start reading aloud wins a point.
Kids love the challenge, and it’s an awesome way to build their Bible confidence. You can even give out small prizes or stickers for participation!
Balloon Blessings
Here’s a physical game that gets kids up and moving and still keeps things faith-focused.
Write a blessing, memory verse, or Bible question on small slips of paper and place each inside a balloon before inflating. When it’s time to play, let the kids bop the balloons around while music plays. When the music stops, whoever has the balloon pops it and reads what’s inside!
It’s fun, silly, and sneakily educational a win-win for Sunday school or youth night.
Bible 5 Second Game
If you’ve never played this one, buckle up because it’s chaotic fun in the best way possible.
In the Bible 5 Second Game, players have just five seconds to name three things in a given category. Sounds easy, right? Until you have to blurt out “three women in the Bible” before the timer buzzes!
It’s a fast-paced favorite that works beautifully for mixed-age groups. Kids get excited, teens get competitive, and adults? Well… they mostly panic (but in a good way).
Use it as an icebreaker, or to wrap up a Sunday school lesson with a fun recap of what you’ve learned that day.

He Is Risen Bingo
Nothing brings people together quite like a round of bingo especially when it’s Easter-themed!
Our He Is Risen Bingo is a wonderful way to celebrate the Easter story with kids. Each card is filled with resurrection-themed pictures and words, helping kids connect the story of Jesus’ resurrection to something they can see and understand.
Play it during Sunday school, children’s church, or your Easter family gathering. Add small prizes like stickers, candy, or Bible bookmarks to make it even more exciting.

Bible Would You Rather
This one’s a crowd-pleaser! Bible Would You Rather is perfect for groups big or small, and it’s such a fun way to spark conversation especially with teens.
Would you rather build the ark with Noah or wander in the desert with Moses? Would you rather face Goliath or spend a night in the lion’s den?
It’s lighthearted, thought-provoking, and guaranteed to get everyone laughing and talking about their favorite Bible stories. Bonus: you’ll be surprised how often the kids come up with some seriously deep insights during this one!

Bible Forbidden Words
If you’ve ever played “Taboo,” you’ll instantly recognize this one!
In Bible Forbidden Words, players have to get their team to guess a word like “Moses” without using certain “forbidden” words like “Egypt,” “Red Sea,” or “staff.” It’s tougher than it sounds, and so much fun once people get competitive.
This is an amazing option for youth groups or adult Bible studies, because it encourages creative thinking and quick recall of Bible stories. You’ll be amazed how fast the laughter spreads!

Memory Verse Match-Up
If you’re looking for a quiet, thoughtful game that still feels fun, try Memory Verse Match-Up.
Write half of a Bible verse on one card, and the other half on another. Mix them up, lay them out, and let kids (or families) take turns finding the matches. It’s simple, relaxing, and helps with scripture memorization in a super engaging way.
Bible Family Feud
Oh yes, it’s the classic game show but with a Bible twist! Our Bible Family Feud printable is perfect for church family nights, youth groups, or Sunday school competitions.
You can split into two teams (families, kids vs. parents, or boys vs. girls whatever makes it fun) and take turns guessing the most popular answers to Bible-themed survey questions. Think: “Name an animal that was on Noah’s Ark” or “Name one of the Ten Commandments.”
This game gets everyone talking, laughing, and testing their Bible knowledge in a friendly, fast-paced way. And honestly, it’s just as much fun watching the wrong answers as it is guessing the right ones!

Bible Scavenger Hunt
Ready for something a little more active? Try a Bible scavenger hunt!
This is one of those games that works beautifully both indoors and outdoors. You can create a list of Bible-related clues or items to find like “a cross,” “something that reminds you of creation,” or “a heart for love.”
For older kids or youth groups, turn it into a Scripture hunt! Give them Bible verses that lead to certain objects. For example:
“Your word is a lamp to my feet” (Psalm 119:105) → they have to find a flashlight or lamp.
This one’s perfect for keeping kids moving, thinking, and connecting the Bible to real life.
Bible Charades
This one’s a must for group fun. Everyone knows how to play charades but instead of movies or TV shows, your clues come straight from Scripture!
Have players act out Bible stories, characters, or miracles. Picture someone trying to mime Jonah and the whale or David and Goliath guaranteed laughs every time.
This game encourages creativity and helps everyone remember key Bible stories in a totally new way.
Bible Verse Coloring Pages
After all that energy and laughter, it’s nice to slow things down a little and our Bible Verse Coloring Pages are the perfect way to end your church activity or Sunday school session.
