If you have not heard about this game, it is a super easy and fun game for both kids and adults. Various prizes are wrapped in saran wrap to form a ball. This ball is then passed around and you must try to unwrap as many prizes as you can during your turn.

How to play the Saran Wrap Ball Game

First, you will need to gather some supplies. For this game, you will need a couple of rolls of saran wrap, two dice and some small prizes. 

Start by wrapping the prizes one at a time in the saran wrap. Be sure to wrap it tightly so that each prize is completely covered.  

Now, it's time to start playing! Have each of your guests take turns trying to unwrap the prizes from the saran wrap. If you want to make the game even more challenging, try adding more layers of saran wrap around each prize. This will make it even harder for your guests to unwrap the ball and will provide an added level of fun and excitement.

To play the Saran Wrap Ball Game you will need your saran ball and 2 dice. There are a few different ways of playing this game but this version is our favorite.

  • Have everyone sitting in a circle and give the ball to the youngest person to start. 
  • The person to their left will have 2 dice.
  • When the game starts, the person with the ball can begin unwrapping it. Any gift that falls out is theirs to keep. 
  • While they are unwrapping the ball, the person with the dice must roll both dice at once and try to get doubles.
  • If they are successful they pass the dice to the person on their left and the saran ball is passed to them. They are now allowed to start unwrapping the ball.
  • The next person with the dice must now try to roll a double on their first roll.
  • If they are unsuccessful in getting a double, they must pass the dice to the next person on their left. 
  • This continues until someone rolls a double. Whoever rolls the double will be passed the saran ball and they can start unwrapping.
  • The game continues around the circle until all of the prizes have been unwrapped.

To make the game more exciting you can add Challenge Cards.  These can be used 2 ways.

  • Place the cards in each layer when you make the plastic wrap ball
  • Or each player must pick up a challenge card at the beginning of their turn

The fun challenges include things like unwrap the ball using only one hand, sing a song while unwrapping the ball and unwrap the ball while standing on one foot.

How many layers should you use?

You can use as many layers as you want to. It is a good idea to try to have enough prizes for everyone playing the game.

When making the layers, instead of doing one long piece of saran wrap which is then easy to unwrap why not try having the saran wrap go in different directions.

If you use a good quality cling wrap then the plastic wrap sticks to itself, making it a little more difficult to unwrap, taking longer to find the end, which gives the other players time to roll the double.

So cut the saran wrap in different lengths' so some long, some shorter that way the game gets more fun.
