Balance the Balloon

See who can balance a balloon on their finger for the longest amount of time. This sounds easy but balloons can be tricky to keep still!

Pass the Balloon

Blow up some balloons and place a note inside each one with a task to do such as 'Sing a Nursery Rhyme' or  'Do the Chicken Dance'. Have all players sitting in a circle, play some music and pass the balloon around. When the music stops the person with the balloon must sit on the balloon to pop it. They will read out the note and must complete the action and are then rewarded with some candy or a small gift. Then the game starts again with a new balloon.

Hot potato

Play this game like regular hot potato but using a balloon instead. The idea of the game is when the music is playing players must quickly pass the 'hot potato balloon' around the circle without anyone dropping it. You can make this game harder by adding rules such as you can only hit the balloon with your left hand. When the music stops whoever touched the balloon last is out.

Mystery prize

For this game you will need one prize for each child at the party. Wrap these prizes up and write a number on them. Blow up different colored balloons, write a number on them and scatter the balloons around the house. Then let the kids run around and choose a balloon. The number on the balloon will correspond to a number on one of the prizes, and the child will win that prize.

Bursting Balloon Game

Blow up and tie a piece of string to each balloon. Then tie a balloon to each player's ankle. The aim of the game is to run around and pop balloons whilst protecting your own balloon. The winner is the person with the last un-popped balloon.

Balloon Word

Think of a word that relates to your party, it could be the birthday child's name, their age or the word 'Happy Birthday' or 'Congratulations'.  Then blow up lots of balloons and write each letter of the word you have chosen onto a balloon. If you are doing this in teams you will need to write each letter onto one balloon per team. Make sure you include some balloons with no letters on them. Mix the balloons up and scatter around the room. When the game starts, one person from each team must run out and try to find a balloon with a letter on it and bring it back to the team. This continues until a team has gathered all of the letters for the word and the first team to do so wins.
