Mangonada FAQs

1. What does a mangonada taste like? It’s a wild mix of sweet mango, tart lime, a little heat from Tajín, and a touch of salty-tangy chamoy. Basically, it’s a flavor explosion in the best way possible.

2. Can I make it ahead of time? Mangonadas are best enjoyed fresh so the slushy texture stays perfect. If you must prep ahead, blend the mango mixture and store it in the freezer. Let it thaw slightly and blend again before serving.

3. What is chamoy? Chamoy is a Mexican condiment that’s sweet, sour, and a little spicy, made from pickled fruit and chili. It’s often used on fruit, snacks, and drinks like this one!

4. What if I don’t have frozen mangoes? Fresh mango will work but your drink will not be as frosty.

5. Is a mangonada alcoholic? Nope! This is a family-friendly treat, but if you want to turn it into an adults-only drink, a splash of tequila or rum would work beautifully and turn it into a frozen Mangonada Margarita.

  • Make it boozy – Add a shot of tequila or rum for a fun grown-up twist.

  • Make it extra spicy – Add a pinch of cayenne or blend a little fresh jalapeño into the mix.

  • Try different fruits – Swap mango for pineapple or peaches for a different take.

  • Creamy version – Blend in a little coconut milk for a rich, tropical flavor.

  • No chamoy? No problem! – Use a little extra lime juice and Tajín for that sweet-sour-spicy kick.
